WHO WE ARE

UNITED TO PRESERVE & CELEBRATE
OUR SHARED HERITAGE

Port Edward Historical Society

The Port Edward Historical Society is a registered charity incorporated in 2000, with a purpose to preserve, restore, interpret and grow North Pacific Cannery as a living museum that illustrates the multicultural, isolated, industrial lifestyle of the West Coast fishery for the local community and the world to experience.

Our mission is to preserve, exhibit and interpret the history of the salmon canning industry, celebrating its role in the economic and cultural development of British Columbia. We strive to protect, maintain, and grow North Pacific Cannery as an important tourist attraction and local community hub in the region, and provide a unique and engaging experience for local, national, and international visitors.
